Gangways

As marine access specialists we design, fabricate, sell or lease gangways for safe personnel transfer from vessels - be they monohulls, semi-subs, or barges - to any fixed offshore structure.

The gangways can be constructed from steel or aluminium or a combination of both and made wide enough for one-way or two-way traffic, depending on the application.

The structural design is certified by a classification society and gangways can be fitted with heave compensation similar to the OAS design or with a passive system*. The walkways can also transfer pumped fluids via hoses and pipes, as well as electrical power.

*Definition Passive System – this system acts as a standard fixed walkway whilst in free air but once the damped connection system has engaged with the platform, the passive (“free float”) system is automatically engaged which allows connection to be maintained whilst the vessel moves in its six degrees of freedom.

For ConocoPhillips we refurbished, commissioned and operated the gangway for their Australian operation.

Development of a gangway is ongoing to allow connection from ship-to-ship.
