The OAS provides a safe, efficient and reliable transfer system between a vessel and a fixed structure allowing unparalleled levels of access.  However, that is only part of the story, with the correct vessel selection the OAS vessel can also:

• Provide a platform for ROV and dive operations
• Support or carry out in-field cable laying or repairs
• Carry spare parts to reduce waiting times
• Provide in-field workshop facilities for immediate repairs
• Act as a 'guard ship'

During the construction phase, the OAS vessel can provide accommodation for commissioning activities, thereby freeing up the expensive lift barges from 'hotel' duties, allowing for optimum utilisation.

This could have significant cost benefits to a project and allow reduction in overall installation timescales.

There could be a reduction in overall onshore facilities such as warehouse storage for spares and workshops.

Costs associated with personnel travel will be reduced as there will be minimal need for hotels.
