Offshore Solutions B.V. (OSBV), market leader in the invention, development, manufacture and safe operation of the industry’s most advanced marine access systems, is celebrating significant achievements in the operation of the Offshore Access System (OAS). The OAS, weighing approximately 24 tonnes, has achieved over 1,200 operational connections mounted onboard the Shell chartered vessel, Smit Kamara.
Working in the UK and Dutch sectors of the Southern North Sea, the OAS has also accomplished the safe transfer of over 13,000 personnel across the gangway, whilst reaching almost three years in service without any lost time incidents.
OSBV’s General Manager, Ian Sadler, said: “These two milestones are major achievements for Offshore Solutions. To accomplish this without any lost time incidents consistently proves that our step changing technology continues to be one of the safest and most efficient options for accessing offshore installations.”
The OAS is now fully established within the Southern North Sea and continues to improve manpower productivity and safety on both manned and unmanned installations in the Southern North Sea. The OAS was in continual use throughout 2008, demonstrating the efficiency and quick turnaround of the team onboard the Smit Kamara.
Tom Botts, Executive Vice President Shell Exploration and Production Europe, said: "We have a goal of zero safety incidents in Shell. Using technological innovation, Offshore Solutions has helped us make progress on our ongoing journey to zero incidents in the Southern North Sea".
