Offshore Solutions B.V. (OSBV), market leader in the invention, development, manufacture and safe operation of the industry’s most advanced marine access systems, is celebrating another significant achievement in the operation of the Offshore Access System (OAS*). The OAS, weighing approximately 24 tonnes, has achieved over 1,000 operational connections mounted onboard the GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. (GSEPN) chartered vessel, REM Mermaid.
Working in the Dutch sector of the Southern North Sea, the REM Mermaid with the OAS mounted onboard, has safely transferred personnel for over a year, without any lost time incidents.
OSBV’s General Manager, Ian Sadler, said: “This milestone is a further major achievement for Offshore Solutions. To accomplish this without any lost time incidents, consistently proves that our step changing technology continues to be one of the safest and most efficient options for accessing offshore installations.”
The OAS is now wholly established within the Southern North Sea and continues to improve manpower productivity and safety on both manned and unmanned installations in the Southern North Sea. This third SNS OAS has been in continual use since February 2009, demonstrating the competence and quick turnaround of the team onboard the REM Mermaid.
The REM Mermaid is a multi purpose supply vessel, equipped with a class two dynamic positioning system; it is ideally suited to support the OAS.
* An OAS is a heave compensated telescopic gangway, enabling the safe transfer of personnel from a vessel to an offshore installation (wind turbine, oil or gas platform) designed to operate in 2.5 metre Hs (significant wave height) sea states.
