During July 2008, OSBV’s first fully operational heave compensated access system (OAS), celebrated its 1000th operational connection. The OAS - which is mounted on the Smit Kamara, and is currently working in both the UK and Dutch Southern North Sea sectors - carried out the first operational connection on May 26th 2006.
Not only did OSBV achieve the 1000th operational connection last month, but the team had another cause to celebrate in July when the 1000th man made the crossing on the ‘Walkway to Work’ – taking the total crossings during the year so far to over 4000.
These two milestones alone are both major achievements in themselves, but to accomplish this without any lost time incidents since operations began in 2006 (we recently celebrated 2 years LTI free) persistently proves that our step changing technology continues to be the safest option for accessing offshore installations.
